The first half of 2026 brought another series of passenger records across Lithuania's airport network.
In June alone, Vilnius Airport recorded passenger growth of 13.1% compared with June 2025 — the strongest growth among Lithuania's three airports that month.
Lithuanian Airports reported that every month during the first half of 2026 produced a new all-time record across its network, showing that the strong growth seen in 2025 has continued.
Vilnius Airport Has Recently Changed Significantly
A major new passenger departures terminal officially opened at Vilnius Airport in February 2025.
The project doubled the airport's passenger-handling capacity and introduced new check-in areas, self-service baggage drop facilities, security screening areas and two additional passenger boarding bridges.
The new building is connected with the older terminal infrastructure by an internal gallery, so passengers move between different parts of one developing airport complex rather than between two remote airport sites.
The Transformation Is Continuing in 2026
Opening the new departures terminal was only one stage of a much larger redevelopment programme.
Reconstruction of older terminal areas has continued, with passenger spaces being reorganised and modernised while the airport remains operational.

A New Arrivals Terminal Is Already Planned
Vilnius Airport's transformation will continue beyond the current works. A completely new arrivals terminal is planned, with opening currently expected by the end of 2028.
The project has been entrusted to Zaha Hadid Architects and forms part of the airport's longer-term capacity and passenger-experience strategy.
