Going to Uppsala? Stockholm May Be the Wrong Direction
This is one of the most useful geographical facts to understand about Arlanda. The airport is situated north of Stockholm, while Uppsala lies farther north.
A passenger travelling to Uppsala therefore does not need to reach Stockholm city centre and then reverse direction. Arlanda itself offers onward rail and road connections towards Uppsala.

Do Not Rely on Old Arlanda Terminal Guides
Arlanda's terminal organisation has changed. In particular, the former Terminal 4 is now incorporated into Terminal 5 and its gates are identified as Gate Area C.
Terminal 5 now handles both domestic and international traffic, while Terminal 2 also serves passengers. This makes current flight information more reliable than older travel articles describing the airport's previous terminal structure.

Moving Between Airport Areas
Arlanda provides free transport within the airport area. Before security, Arlanda Express can be used free of charge between Arlanda South, serving Terminals 2 and 3, and Arlanda North at Terminal 5.

Total passenger traffic increased by almost seven per cent compared with 2024. Domestic traffic grew particularly strongly during the year, while international travel also continued to increase.
Route development was substantial as well: 23 new scheduled routes were added at Arlanda during 2025.
International Travel Has Just Reached a New Record
Arlanda's international traffic remains especially strong in 2026. Swedavia reported on 3 September 2026 that the airport set a new record for international travel during August.
This follows continued international growth earlier in the year, including more than two million international passengers during June alone.
For travellers, the practical point is simple: Arlanda is a large, busy and increasingly international airport, so accurate flight, terminal and pickup information matters.
Winter Changes the Context of an Arlanda Transfer
Stockholm's winter conditions can include snow, ice and low temperatures. Airport and road infrastructure is designed for the Swedish climate, but weather can still affect traffic and journey times.
