Riga Has a Genuine Low-Cost Airport Bus
Travellers should know that Riga Airport has a straightforward public transport option. Bus No. 22 connects the airport with the city and is an economical choice for passengers whose destination works well with the route.
According to the airport, the bus stop is located in the P1 car park between arrival exits E and C. Tickets can be purchased through supported mobile applications, at the airport or, for a specific single-journey ticket, directly from the driver by payment card.
We therefore do not present a private chauffeur as necessary for every passenger. If Bus 22 takes you conveniently where you need to go, it can be an excellent option.

The latest airport figures show approximately 3.3 million passengers during the first half of 2026, with around 31,000 flights handled between January and June.
The airport's 2026 summer programme also brings additional capacity and an expanded route network, including the return of SAS and increased activity from several established carriers.
For travellers, that means Riga continues to function both as the main gateway to Latvia and as an important connecting airport in Northern Europe.
A Major Terminal Expansion Has Just Entered Its Next Stage
RIX announced on 3 September 2026 that the next stage of its passenger terminal expansion project has begun, with preparatory construction work scheduled to start during September.
The project includes new check-in facilities, passenger waiting areas, security screening infrastructure and a new baggage reclaim hall. Roads and parking areas around the terminal are also part of the redevelopment.
This is useful context for travellers because the airport environment will continue to evolve as the expansion progresses. Follow current airport signage and official information when travelling.
